In general, our practices consist of five stages: warm-up, stretching, announcements, footwork, and weapon groups.

Contents

Warm-up

The most basic warm-up we do is running laps around the gym. This can be replaced with any cardio-intensive game, such as ultimate frisbee or Knockout (especially half-court Knockout).

Stretching

Once the warm-up is complete, we do group stretching. We have done static stretching in the past, but we now favor dynamic stretching.

Announcements

One of the officers, usually the president, summarizes club affairs, e.g., recent results and upcoming events.

Footwork

A coach or an experienced fencer leads the club in footwork drills (without weapons).

Weapon groups

The club splits up into weapon groups. Within each weapon group, at the discretion of the coach or captain, the group does drills, then free fences for the rest of practice.
